Cancel late August trip?

I was planning to visit the last week of August but I’m nervous about the heat since I don’t do well in anything over 90 degrees Fahrenheit or so. Does anyone have experience visiting in late August? If so, which island do you recommend that’s lively with some nightlife but nothing crazy. I want to eat and relax on the beach, not much hiking or sight seeing.
