What can I do as a broke student in Middlesbrough with no money, no job, and no one left to ask, with rent due in 2 days?

Hi everyone,

I never imagined I’d be in this position😔 typing this out with my heart racing, full of shame, panic, and helplessness. But I’ve run out of choices, and I’m reaching out as a last resort. I’m an international student living in Middlesbrough. My family back home is struggling with heavy debt. Every day, loan collectors come to my house and my parents hide inside, terrified. And still, somehow, they found a way to send me here hoping I’d build a better future. They believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. But I’ve failed them. I’m broke. I’ve applied to dozens and dozens of jobs in retail, hospitality, warehouses, cleaning and anything at all. I’ve walked door to door. I’ve submitted CVs everywhere. But I haven’t heard back. And time has run out. I need to pay £600 rent in two days or I could lose my accommodation. I tried applying for overdrafts with Lloyds and Monzo. Both got declined. I’ve asked friends! but most of them are broke too. I can’t — I won’t — ask my parents. They’ve given everything already, and they have nothing left to give. I’ve stopped drinking. I’m trying to change. I’m trying to grow. But right now I feel like I’m drowning and no one sees me. I’m not asking for a handout. If you have any leads, temp work, someone hiring, or a short-term loan, I will take anything. Even just advice. Even just a kind word. Please, if you’re reading this, and you’ve ever been in a position where life crushed you but you kept going! help me get through this. I just want to survive this week. That’s all. Thank you for reading this far. — Rishi
