Rain Gear - SE

Moving back to SE after a decade away and trying to get my rain game right. Rubberized clothing works great of course; it's also super heavy and hard to be athletic in. Goretex stuff saturates and bleeds through after many hours. What specific rain gear are you using when rambling about the woods, Southeasterners? Best solution I've found is a GoreTex jacket/ pants and a backup set.
