Parents got served and i need help

Hello, so my parents got served with papers to go to court (?), they are getting sued as they did not pay the contractors as initially both parties agreed on an initial price of £700 however there was some hidden fees that the contractors added which added an additional £200. My parents did not sign any contracts and prices was only discussed in person.
