RIF, layoffs, bumps, anyone else spiraling?
I don't know about anyone else out there, but the layoffs and the uncertainty associated with this whole process is causing some serious strife for the affected folks. I finally reached out to some other people who I know were impacted and I was thankful to find out I am not the only one absolutely spiraling out of control. It feels like HR is doing things in a very wild and discombobulated way with seemingly no regard for people's lives and feelings. Having past issues with substance use, I've found myself relapsing, and I'm terrified of the road on which I'm traveling. I talked to somebody else who has a history of eating disorders, and I'll just say they aren't doing good either. Another person I know goes right to bed after work and hardly wants to get out of their bed to log on to their computer because all it is more bad news or worse, no news. HR is just out there giving us all whiplash playing with our lives and emotions. We all are fighting battles people know nothing about and the last thing we need is this level of uncertainty and borderline incompetence from the one department that's supposed to have a handle on all of this.. This is our livelihood, our jobs, and for some our identity. And please, for the love of everything sacred, don't tell me to reach out to EAP. I'd rather empty the beach with a fork. I am thankful for the support I get at a local level but man.. There's not many else who seem to care
