Misread our local market, now sitting on the wrong inventory.
Hoping to get some advice for a friend who just opened a shop and is facing an inventory issue.
They stocked up thinking they'd get a younger crowd (basically bought the inventory they liked), so they're heavy on high-THC flower and vapes. But their actual customers are mostly Gen X and Boomers who ask for low-dose edibles and topicals, which they don't have enough of.
As a result, their sitting on inventory that's hard to move and very low on inventory that's moving fast. Now their scrambling to adjust their buying but low on cash from the last buy.
Has anyone seen this at their store? How was it dealt with?
I assume it's something we will get use to as we see the sell data, but how are young shops anticipating?
