29 weeks today and… feeling rough.

This pregnancy has been good overall — I’ve stayed active (Pure Barre 4x a week), I’ve only gained about 10–11 lbs, and I’ve tried to eat mindfully — but it’s really starting to catch up. I failed my 1-hour glucose test which added a layer of stress, and now I just feel… frumpy and off.

I feel soft everywhere even though I’ve been working hard to stay strong. My face looks tired, and the minimal makeup I usually rely on just isn’t cutting it. My under-eyes look hollow, my forehead lines are jumping out, and nothing I wear feels like it fits or flatters. It’s one of those heavy body dysmorphia days.

On top of that, people’s comments have shifted — from “You don’t even look pregnant!” to “You’re looking tired/pregnant” or “You can’t squeeze past things anymore haha.” I know it’s not meant to be hurtful, but when your body already feels foreign, those comments hit harder. My OB told me I’m all belly, which was nice, but mentally I’m just struggling.

We’ve also dealt with so many financial stressors this pregnancy.

  • We had to buy a used car unexpectedly
  • Found out our house (that we bought a year ago) has termites we’re treating
  • My husband had an issue that cost $4k out of pocket
  • And we just had to replace our fridge

All of this has meant I haven’t bought anything for myself this whole pregnancy — not clothes, not self-care stuff, nothing. I feel like I’m constantly putting myself last.

I’m also a SAHM to my 3-year-old, and he just started preschool two mornings a week (another big change), and I’m trying to find time to care for myself at all.

How are you guys staying refreshed right now? What helps you feel like you again — even just a little?
