I am doing a quick repost because I realized I forgot to crop a name out of my photos. So here we go really quick. I made a semi-political post on Facebook I would say for the first time in four years. My family is all very Republican and post regularly about their beliefs, I have a lot of different viewpoints than they do and honestly no matter how tame my post that challenges their beliefs they always have a comment about it and somehow turn it around on me being the hateful one. So I just quit honestly. I know most people who have drifted away from the values of their families still hold love for them. I have one cousin who I am close with like a sister and we have been through a lot together.

So I made a post today in response to job uncertainty within my non-profit organization due to SNAP-Ed being a major funder and recent cuts from Big Bill being passed. Basically I am currently expecting and also one of their more recent hires. I really am worried about losing my job right now as our company president basically sent out a tearful video message today letting us know layoffs are going to happen.

At the same time, this has pushed me to say something about the importance of the work I do. I felt like everything I said was very personal and didn’t really even attack the Republican party.

Well I had a few heart reactions and hug reactions but my cousin made a comment I ended up just deleting, now she did say “sorry this happened to you” and “the work you do is important” but she followed it up with a “there’s pros and cons with any way you vote and Im happy with the say I did.” 

So I kind of reached out to her with a hey, that’s not really empathetic, why the need to add in the last part?
