Chronic Blocked Tear duct ?
21F White/African American 5’5 106lbs.
Ive had 3 surgeries on my left tear duct (i was born with a blocked tear duct) my parents dont know the exact specifications on the surgeries? but i was under 6 years old i believe for all 3. I also have chronic dry eye i dont have a history of allergy issues (that im aware of). I haven’t been able to produce tears since as long as i can remember (yes i literally mean i cant remember a single time ive been able to ever shed tears). My left eye specifically constantly overwaters (not mucus feeling) to the point my vision blurs often several times a day. I also have to massage my left tear duct several times a week sometimes and it gushes out with fluid and yellowish or white mucus. Last night i went to lay in my bed and ive been a bit sick recently the moment i laid down i felt extreme pressure in my sinuses and then my left duct felt as though it popped and then gushed out with fluid and mucus. so much fluid and mucus my vision was obstructed and it took me at least 5 minutes to properly clean my eye. Ive even had my tear duct squirt with mucus and the fluid hit my mirror without me being sick. Typically seeing drs about the issue im just recommended something for dry eye and the other eye issues arent addressed. This issue has been ongoing for at least 10 years. I also sometimes wake up with lots of eye gunk and crusties. Everytime i go out im having to clear mucus from my eye as well but i try to not mess with it too much to avoid being unsanitary. Im just not really sure what to do about my issue, could i just have been experiencing some kind of environmental allergy that no one has caught? (i live in a city considered an “allergy captial” source- i work for an allergist 😂)
