Can I sue my neighbor for taking my soccer ball and not giving it back?

So I'm very young and have a soccer ball gifted to me by my gf, which basically means it's my property now (I think) but anyway, I was playing around in my yard and I accidentally kicked my ball into my neighbors yard, they gave it back the first 3 times, but then on the 4th time she said she would pop it and not give it back, which I guess she did bc when I accidentally kicked it over again when trying to kick it back into my yard when playing soccer with my little sister, I kicked it to her fence, and after a day, it was gone, it was a $40-50 ball and I really loved it, and I don't want to disappoint my gf by tling her I kicked it into my neighbors yard by accident so... What should I do?
