What type of tree is/are this/these? Is it natural to loose its bark this time of year?

Thanks for your help! What type of tree is this? There are two trees that I believe to be the same. Is it natural to loose its bark this time of year (is this the normal course of things or do I need to worry about something)? The trees lost their bark after some severe rain storms in Texas.
