How hard is TOI for a person who is new to Xianxia/Wuxia games?

As the title said how hard and grindy is this game? Is this game like Amazing Cultivation Simulator where you need a degree in Xianxia genre to understand it? To be frank, I don't know much about cultivation. I've read some manhua about it but that it. I've been intrigued by this game for sometimes on steam.
