Enjoying the outdoors with a newborn in Summer?

For those of you who live in hot, humid climates: I live in a state that has moderate summers. Typically 70-80 degrees and about 50-70% humidity. Summer is the very best part of living here and I am selfishly struggling with the idea of having to waste away inside while it's gorgeous out all summer.

So! I'm hoping to get some tips from mamas in other states, like Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Georgia where it's even hotter and more humid than where I live. Am I being naive thinking that me and baby can safely enjoy the nice weather?

So far the tips I've gotten are:

UV shades

Portable fans

Cool, damp Muslin blankets

And shorter trips outside in the sun.
