Will a Paperwhite last as many years as a basic?

Thinking of upgrading from my kindle touch. I got a pw 10th gen used on woot but found it to be slower than my touch. I'm wondering if Paperwhites are prone to become more laggy over time than a basic would?

Seriously, I was so shocked that the touch outperformed the 10 on tts/voice view (the 10 crashes after a while) and that the page turning didn't feel all that different.

If I wanted a kindle to last me several years, should I get a basic? Does the basic have the same laggy over time issues? Or are they both just as long lasting?

Maybe I just have an incredibly lucky kindle touch?
