thoughts on clusters

Are clusters worth it and would you recommend them? i know its a year-long class, but would it help with the transition from semesters (in high school) to quarters?
Also, knowing clusters knock out some GE requirements, would you say that it's a better way to fulfill those requirements, or is taking the units individually a better way to finish them?
