St. Regis: Did I expect too much?

Tl;dr: Hair, lint, and larvae in my (already comped) breakfast at St. Regis. Staff “resolved” it by comping what was already free. No real follow-up. Reasonable to expect more?

Context: I travel weekly to a St. Regis property in North America for business. During my last visit, I ordered private dining for breakfast and not only was there hair in my food, but also lint in my water, and drosophilia larva in my fruit (shown to the staff who picked up my cart after I escalated)

Now, I completely understand that things happen, and normally I would’ve just not even said anything, but all THREE happening at once was a bit much - so I relayed this to the dining team.

My gripe is in the customer service response. I’m a platinum member and breakfast is already comped during my stay. So, when the manager indicated that their resolution was to remove the charge, that was odd to me because I was never paying for it anyways. The manager was also to follow-up with me same day and…come check out 2 days later, I hadn’t heard anything.

I indicated the situation to the front desk and they again repeated that they’d comp the breakfast (which was already comped), and 2 days later I received an email regarding the situation.

I’m not expecting a grand gesture, but “removing” a $32 breakfast order that was already free doesn’t seem like an appropriate resolution to me.

Am I expecting too much?
