Hey GED students, I’m building a web app for timed reading practice. Did you face the same problem?

Hey everyone,

I'm a student who recently went through the process of preparing for the GED, and I kept running into the same frustration: finding high-quality, timed reading practice was a real pain. Most of the platforms I found either had low-quality content, didn't replicate the timed conditions of the real test, or were just clunky to use.

This got me thinking about building a simple web app to solve this. My idea is a platform with:

  • Curated, high-quality reading passages that match the style of GED.
  • A clean interface with a visible timer to simulate the real exam.
  • Instant scoring and explanations for each multiple-choice question.

Before I dive deeper into building it, I wanted to ask this community:

  • Did you also struggle to find a good timed reading platform?
  • What features would have made your life easier?
  • Are there any specific pain points you faced with existing tools that I should be aware of?
  • What kind of content (e.g., academic articles, news, etc.) would you have wanted to read?

Your feedback would be incredibly helpful in making sure this is a tool that actually solves a real problem for students like you. Thanks!
