Forgot your character sheet? No problem!
So today our table had a notable incident: one of our players had left all their Daggerheart related stuff in their car when they took it to the shop and wasn’t able to get it back in time for today’s session.
No problem whatsoever!
I had a spare character sheet, 3 different players had their own set of cards they could borrow, everyone had spare dice. Domain card selection was very easy to remember. Same for stats, as it was just remembering a +2, two +1’s and a -1. Level up actions were also very easy to re-assess. Experiences were such a part of the character anyone at the table probably could have named them. It was easy enough to remember what armor and weapons they had.
The entire character was rebuilt before we were even done with the recap of last session! If anything wasn’t specifically correct, the character played the same as far as anyone could tell.
I can’t imagine this being remotely as easy in D&D or Pathfinder. Maybe in a PbtA game, but even then I think we would have spent more time flipping through the book and probably would have got some stats wrong.
