Why do we need black boxes now?
Can’t they just live stream the data to the cloud? Maybe keep a local copy as well incase of an internet failure?
There’s Starlink and other satellite internet now. There could also be a way to transmit the data to ground directly using custom wireless protocols instead of relying on internet protocols.
I understand black boxes being invented last century when the internet wasn’t even invented much less easily available via satellite.
But now, with internet so easily available, they can move the black box to the cloud. When there’s a crash, the data is readily available, instead of trying to recover the black box and if the black box is lost for good or damaged, then it’s extra hard to decode data.
