Should I talk to her or not....
I have a female friend I've known for the past 5 years since our school days. We got closer during the COVID lockdown when we used to chat late at night, sometimes till 2–3 AM. Later, we both joined the same college. She became a part of the acting club and was always busy with them. Because of that, we rarely got to meet, and after some time, she started ignoring my messages—replying after 2–3 days with just one or two words.
Even then, I kept trying to talk to her, but it felt like she wasn’t interested anymore. One day, while I was walking back to my apartment from college, I saw her with her acting club friends. They seemed to be leaving, and she was hugging everyone. I know for some people that might be normal, but she had never hugged me—even though we were once very close. It hurt to see that.
Around the same time, I found out through her roommate—who was also my friend—that she saw my messages in her notifications but still didn’t care to reply. I also learned she was in a new relationship, which she never even told me about. That broke me. I was supposed to be her closest friend, or at least that's what she used to say before college.
After that, I stopped talking to her. It was really hard. I missed her every day, but I managed to move on. Later, I got a better opportunity and switched to a different college—not because of her, but for my own growth.
About 5–6 months later, I heard that she had broken up with her boyfriend. She messaged me to apologize, but I was still angry and replied, "I don't want to talk to you." She responded, "Even I don’t want to talk to you. And don’t think for a second that I need you."
We stopped talking for a year.
Then, one day, she replied to one of my WhatsApp statuses and said she wanted to talk. After a long conversation, we started talking again. I thought I’d give her another chance because she used to be my closest person. For a few days, things were fine, but again she started ignoring me. This time, I didn’t make any effort either and just replied when she messaged first.
After college ended and we both returned to our hometown, she started regularly talking to me again. Things seemed better, and I felt like maybe this time it would work out. But then we had a small fight because I forgot to reply to one of her messages. She got angry. At the time, I was waiting for my CFA Level 1 results and was really stressed. I decided to apologize to her after my results came out, hoping she’d be happy to hear I passed.
When I passed, I called her to share the good news. She declined the call. I thought she might be busy, so I messaged her instead. She replied, “Congratulations.” The next day, she said she had declined my call because she was angry because you didn't replied on earlier that day.
I replied: "This is really bad. I just achieved the biggest thing in my life and wanted to share it with you. But you didn’t even bother to call me back—just because of a small fight, keep on waiting for my reply I still won't reply you. Idiot.
She replied: "I can’t believe this. I forgot I was dealing with the opposite gender. Y’all are just tragic. I won’t be holding my breath."
After two days, she asked if I was still angry. I didn’t reply. Then after 5 more days, she messaged again, asking me to say sorry so we could end the fight, and said she wanted to meet me and congratulate me. But by then, it had been 10 days since I passed my exam—everyone else had already called and celebrated with me. I was very pissed off and didn’t reply to her.
Now I’m seriously thinking of ending this friendship. It feels like she doesn’t care, but every time, it breaks me. She only talks when she feels like it, and I don’t want to keep going through this.
Please share you opinions over this, I'll be really grateful to you.
