Mydei and the scapegoat and a sus parallel between him and Phainon (minor 3.4 story spoiler)
ok there's a lot so keep up with me, credit to @Gego459 on twt here's the link to the og post
In Hoyo's commissioned work, we see Mydei pushing a boulder up a mountain, and in the game, there are also two nymphs pushing boulders in Castrum Kremnos. This is the description of the achievement "Flesh and Blood Have Become Words", which is named after a real book
His 6th eidolon can be translated as The blood soaked mountain once climbed in the past. The BGM that plays during the farewell scene between him and Phainon is called Beneath the sheep's skin. The thorn on which the nymph was hung resembles the thorn on the head of the scapegoat
credit to UrielFan012 for this
“flesh and blood have become words” reminds me of the scapegoat texts…
to which @Gego459 says
it's a wordplay on the Biblical phrase "The Word became flesh"
This is the second nymph btw. Do you remember that we had to push a boulder in one quest, at the place where Mydei sat in the Nameless Faces MV? Both boulders look like the ones above (with blue diamond pattern). We have to use the power of time to "move" them
After finishing the scapegoat puzzle:
Now where does Phainon come into this? Scapegoat from what we understand has always been about Phainon but it seems like its meant not just for him
@ballsisannoyed to this added
I think this imagery definetely helps this argument. Because the actual minigame of the scapegoat portrays a golden goat, whose quest is to DELIVER the light being sabotaged by a darker version of itself. It is definitely portraying PHAINONS role in the story. Even the reference to sisyphus FITS Phainon, as the neverending loop of amphoreus requires him to repeat an unachievable task endlessly and yet MYDEI is the one the story closes to tie to this imagery aswell. And, looking at the game again, the goat that evokes the imagery of the sun almost gets stabbed in the back by the goat that evokes the imagery of the reaper. Almost like Phainon usurped the role the IMAGINARY destruction unit was supposed to play in this simulation. He is a variable that changes the simulation, the physical unit of destruction. Idk it's curious.
because also like if we remember, this whole storyline started out with Phainon wanting to assume the role of taking on Nikador's core flame. But he could never actually do that, because he was always meant to take on a path of ACTUAL destruction, not one that is imaginary.
Remember this Nymph Khaslana speaks of?
and this from Phainon's magzine?
very very sus how it all comes together
(omg I finally posted this)
