does the new starjack xenotype have any uses on land?

what it says in the title. i started playing 1.6 for the first time only a few days ago, and today i got a starjack blind healer asking to join my colony. i intend on letting them in either way, but because i'm playing with a self-imposed rule not to touch anything gravship-related until i research both advanced gravtech and aerial/combat vehicles (from vanilla vehicles expanded), i was wondering if i should let them hang around my colony or send them to work one of the outposts from vanilla outposts expanded or something. note that i really like playing solo runs but that isn't a completely immalleable rule for me
