Is Schizophrenia genetic ?

My partner's mother has schizophrenia, we are in our 20s , she said that she is imagining her father who passed away and has been forgetting alot of things lately She is also imagining some fictional character ( who she wrote ) are talking to her but she can tell the difference between that and reality

She is a psychology student and does take therapies .
