Toddler with eczema

Hi everyone.

Hoping someone has been in a similar boat with their child/ren and can give some advice.

My now 3 year old has had eczema since she was ~4 months old. It started as just some dryness on her back, eventually spreading to arm creases and ankles and now everywhere besides her neck and face. We have been treating with prescription moisturiser and a mid-strength steroid cream since it spread, it worked great initially but since 2.5y she has hated having creams on her body. She calls them "yucky and dirty" and wipes them off right away. I have tried explaining how they help her and holding her to let them dry but she just wipes it off as soon as she can and gets really upset. I'm at the stage of not knowing how to help - some nights she wakes screaming and crying from the itchiness and has bloody sores in her arm creases from scratching so much. Her skin is so dry and sore and it breaks my heart to not be able to help.

I have booked in to talk with her doctor next week for some guidance on what I can do but would love any advice you may have. Cold compress? Scratching mittens? Anything?

I thought I'd also add we have tried many natural balms and nothing did the trick until the steroid cream started. Has anyone tried a natural tallow balm?

Thank you in advance!
