Realistic strength goals for a busy student
Hey, I’m a full-time civil engineering student and I was stuck at 60 kg on incline bench for months. I wasn’t training badly, but between uni, work, and just being tired all the time, I couldn’t really make progress. A few months ago I decided to stop messing around and actually made a plan that fit with my schedule. I trained chest 1–2x per week (depends on how cooked I was from school), focused hard on incline bench progression, and kept accessories simple — flies, pushdowns, skull crushers and lateral raises. That’s it. I tracked everything, kept the sessions tight, and focused on getting stronger, not just doing more volume. 6 weeks later I hit 85 kg incline — clean rep, good tempo — which is +25 kg from where I started. Not elite or anything, but solid progress. I ended up writing the whole thing into a guide for myself and a few friends, and I figured I’d share it here too. It’s straight to the point, meant for people who don’t have time for 5-day splits and influencer BS. If anyone wants to check it out, I’ll drop the link or DM it — just lmk.
