What’s the best way to know which scene you truly belong to?
I’ve always identified with the hard dance scene…it’s where my sound feels the most honest and intense. But at the same time, I often find myself experimenting with underground textures, unexpected genres, or even remixing ultra-mainstream tracks just for the love of it.
As a Mexican artist, this duality is part of my identity. I’ve hosted events in Mexico under my own brand (LOUD FRIENDS), bringing legends like Angerfist, Miss K8, Wiwek, Unicorn On K, Lil Texas, and more. I produce non-stop, and I’ve been lucky to perform at places like EDC Mexico (3 times), and also internationally in Japan, Berlin, and Poland.
Despite all that, I still feel like I’m in a strange loop.
I’m fully independent, I do what I want, when I want…which is a blessing…but I often wonder what the next step is. Sometimes it feels like, as a Mexican artist, you’re not taken seriously on a global scale until you’ve already “made it” or relocated abroad. I don’t say this to victimize myself…it’s just something I’ve observed, and I’m curious if others feel the same.
So my question is: How do you know which scene you really belong to when you don’t fully fit the mold of just one…and what would you do to break that loop?
Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone’s felt something similar.
