People who say ‘it’s just a cat’ or ‘it’s just a dog’ when someone loses a beloved pet.

Ultra Annoyed

Nothing enrages me more. Imagine having such a miserable, reductionist take on someone’s pet dying. I’ve had a bully say it to me at school, I’ve heard it from coworkers talking about other coworkers, and I see it all the time online. I see comments saying “it’s just a cat?? they come and go 😂” or “it’s a cat chill”. If anything I feel pity for these types of people, never having had a meaningful connection with an animal to the point where they reduce them to objects. And this goes for all animals; cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, rats, birds. To lose a beloved animal is equal to that of losing any family member. That’s so obvious to me, and it annoys tf out of me when I see people reduce it to something so superficial.
