Are drugs common in HMOs or am I just very unlucky? Considering moving.
I live in a HMO.
Even though I earn way more than the average person, I chose to live in a cheap place so I can quickly afford to buy a home either outright or with a huge deposit in a couple years.
I didn’t realise I would end up living in a place where everyone is either extremely anti-social or takes drugs.
Here is a rundown of the delightful people I live with:
Room 1: Stoner unemployed zombie who can barely hold a conversation, but overall the least annoying.
Room 2: A lazy, useless unemployed, junkie harlot who sets off the fire alarm every month and squanders all her benefit money on takeaways and drugs. She has multiple children living elsewhere.
Room 3: Middle aged, anti-social woman who lives off instant noodles.
Room 4: 20-something year old chav who recently moved in, also a drug user.
Room 5: Me.
Room 6: Socially inept middle aged ‘Bazz’ who also takes drugs.
Room 7: Cocaine and Ketamine addict, benefit fraudster, who’s obsessed with raves. Door slamming, shouting, annoying every day.
Is this just part and parcel of living in a cheap HMO, or could things be much better if I choose to move to a place that’s in a similar price range?
My landlord actually didn’t increase my rent because he doesn’t want me to leave 😂
