Is there any way we could force Reddit to ban or alter a range of its porn Reddits on child welfare grounds?
I was recently banned from Reddit for an “anti trans” post I made here which surprised me as I am trans and was bringing up harms within my own community. At first I found it ridiculous but the more I thought about it I realised it is indicative of how Reddits decisions about what it wants and doesn’t want down to automated moderation serve male interest. There are well known female interest subreddits that remain when misogynistic porn Reddits are removed.
This is where I remembered a subreddit I found ages ago when I was starting to find trans content on Reddit where trans fetishists would look for FTMs and degrade them by calling them women and wanting to convert them. I had a look and the subreddit is still there but curiously (for me as I have not looked at porn on Reddit) the people shown had no face. There is no way with no face or no ID for Reddit to know who it is putting online, what consent is being obtained and importantly how old they are. Underage people could be filling up these subreddits and being harmed and this will be Reddits fault for having monitoring and moderation that falls short of the standards put in main stream porn or even only fans which requires an id for example.
I have a proposal that we can make an online survey in Google and distribute it to ask people who have posted pornographic content on Reddit “what was your age” “how did this harm you” and have it sent to Reddit to force them to at least require proof of identity consent and age in line with other mainstream and online pornographic practice
