Worth it to wait for 50-series G14 (2025) or just get the 2024 now?
I’m planning to get a Zephyrus G14 — been loving the look, form factor, and clean design. I’m not buying right now, probably next year, but I want to start saving and planning, and I’m torn between two options:
- Wait for the 2025 model (50-series RTX)
- Just grab the 2024 G14 (RTX 4060 or 4070, possibly Ti)
Thing is — I’m in Lebanon, and the 2024 models are like half the price of what the new 2025 G14s are selling for right now. So if the performance bump in the 50 series won’t be huge for my needs, I’d rather save the money.
My use case:
- I’m a web + mobile dev, so I’ll be using it mainly for coding (React, Docker, etc.), some VSCode stuff, Python/scraping.
- I have a PS5, so I don’t really game that heavily on the laptop, just occasional titles like valorant, CSGO, Overwatch, and maybe Asassins creed if I get the chance, and might install old rpg games, etc. Would like to try modding here and there, maybe emulate some stuff.
- I’m also kinda concerned about the 8GB VRAM limit on the 4060/4070. Like, how much of a problem will that be in the next few years? Especially with new AAA games and higher texture loads?
TL;DR:
- Wait for 50-series or just go with 2024?
- Any reason to go Ti over non-Ti versions?
- Is 8GB VRAM gonna age badly for light/medium gaming?
Appreciate any tips or experiences from people who already own one. 🙏
