Broken TV Listings

Why do people bother listing massive TV's with broken screens for £50 or £100? I am pretty sure these would cost just as much to fix as buying a brand new version of the same TV or am I missing something? And they often include the line "If you know how to fix this you are getting a bargain" LOL
