account deleted 6 years ago now, username still in use

my first account was deleted 6 years ago now. i tried multiple times getting it back but in meta fashion they never reached out. my question is, since it’s supposedly deleted for good why can’t i use the same username? it still shows up as „used“ although no account shows up when i search for it. is there a way to fix/change it?
