Hello everyone,
I’m having a persistent issue with my ASUS TUF Dash F15 (model FX516PM). About a year ago, the GPU fan started emitting a very weird grinding/rumbling noise—not the normal ramp-up sound, but something that feels like metal-on-metal. I opened the laptop, replaced that GPU fan myself, and re‑applied fresh thermal paste. The noise disappeared for around 10 months, but recently it’s come back exactly the same.

Details:

Model: FX516PM (ASUS TUF Dash F15)

Symptom: Intermittent abnormal grinding noise from the GPU fan. It can occur even at low RPMs and definitely when under load (e.g., gaming or GPU‑heavy tasks).

What I’ve tried:

1. Fully disassembled and replaced the GPU fan with a new unit (self‑installed).

2. Applied new high‑quality thermal paste.

3. Checked for loose screws or cables.

Here’s a short clip demonstrating the noise

Has anyone else experienced this on the FX516PM or a similar TUF Dash model? Is this a known bearing or design defect? Any tips for a permanent fix—cleaning, lubrication, software controls, or should I just buy another fan (and from where)? Thanks in advance for your help!
