Why do temples and religious places still use plastic disposables for food?

Religion 📿

I’ve been to so many religious places and the prasad and bhandara food is served in plastic bowls, tea in disposable plastic cups, food on those thin plastic-coated plates marked as paper plates. I don't understand but it just feels weird. These are places that talk about purity, respect for nature, living simply… but the trash after every event says otherwise. These places generate a lot of waste daily. Why can’t we use something safer? There are so many better options now. Is it cost? Habit? Or no one thinking about it?
