How do you make friends?

Since I'm struggling with unemployement (unfortunately for far more reasons than just my neurotype) and social isolation, I was wondering how other fellow autistics make friends, especially people in their 20s/30s. For context, I live in a very isolated rural area and feel like an alien everytime I am with other people, so there's that.
