Traveling to India

Hello everyone,

As an Indian citizen residing in Italy, my situation is a little tricky; my Permesso di Soggiorno is expired but I do have the receipt for renewal. The Indian Embassy in Rome instructed me that I need to use a direct flight from India to Italy and I can only board the flight with both the expired permit and the receipt.

When I queried Kuwait Airways about the matter, they mentioned that the travel document must absolutely be valid. Has anyone traveled back to Italy with expired Permesso and_receipt on Kuwait Airways or any other Airline? Especially if it had 3hr layover in Kuwait airport?

I would appreciate any help you can provide.
