Death Stranding and Accessibility: Where Are the Wheelchairs and Ramps?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something that’s been bothering me about Death Stranding. As someone with a disability, I find it really disappointing that Sam, the main character, never uses a wheelchair or any kind of mobility aid. Even more frustrating is that the game’s environments lack ramps or proper accommodations for people with physical disabilities.
The world of Death Stranding is beautiful and detailed, but it feels like people with mobility challenges were completely overlooked in the design. There are so many obstacles that, in real life, would require ramps or wheelchair access, yet the game just assumes everyone can walk or climb without any problems.
This lack of representation and accessibility options feels offensive to me and others who face these challenges daily. I believe games should be more inclusive and consider players with different abilities, not just in character design but in the actual gameplay and environments.
I hope that future games, including Death Stranding 2, will include more accessibility features like wheelchairs, ramps, or at least environments that make sense for people with disabilities.
Has anyone else noticed this or felt the same way? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for reading!
