Paste vs pad

So i have been wondering lately if i should use rhemal paste or pad if I'm going to change the paste next week. I'm more of considering thermal pads as i like to clean my fans by opening it completely and then reapply them but paste makes it hard to do so I'm doing it while mounted. Any suggestions will be help i can do paste too if it makes decent difference even 2° thqn pads!!!
