Noob questions about salvaging early game

I want to start a salvage operation:

Is there a way to salvage wrecks early game? I want to assign a cheap ship (M-class or so) to salvage wrecks like in eve online, but Ive red you have to build a salvaging station and buy specific expensive ships for that? Cant i just use the mining lasers? Are there traktor weapons in the game? If so where do i get them? Or is is just impossible to salvage ships early game?

Ive ordered some cheap transporters to collect containers, which works fine, but all the wrecks scream to be salvaged
