Fifa should go the "Fortnite route"
EA has been selling us the same game every year for the past 5 years or so, and every year we pay full price for a new game that is no more than an update. The idea that we need a new fifa game every year is very outdated. It made sense back in the day when we didnt have online content like today. Back then you had to buy the newest game to get the updated squads and leagues, but with downloadable content, thats not necessary.
I think Fortnite is the best example of how online games should be developed and maintained. Fortnite has been out for 8 years, and it has improved immensely over time, without the need of "Fortnite 2". If we got a game like "EA FC" that could persist for many years, the game would be soo much better.
Instead of rushing through every part of the game, trying to make as many small changes here and there, switching the UI layout and adding small pointless features to make it seem like its a new game, they could take their time on different areas and make something polished.
We could get new seasons instead of new games, they could have season passes to make more money, and they are free to keep the stupid gambling stuff in FUT if they want, i dont play FUT anymore so i dont care.
There could be some huge benefits of having one game that continues for years. Imagine being able to go into kick off and not only be able to choose which team you would like to play as, but also which year you want. You could pick which season you want the team from. "Today i feel like playing Manchester city 22/23 season, tomorrow i want to play Manchester city 24/25 season.
The same thing could be applied to career mode. You could start your career 5 years ago, and play from there. Young talents that we know about now wouldnt be available yet, but when you have played 3 seasons, the player finally makes his debut in the team he debuted in in real life. This would prevent career mode from being flooded with generated youth academy players after two seasons, and make the career feel more real.
