touchpad not working

my touchpad isn't working on my lenovo laptop. i've tried a system restore and looking in settings (touchpad seems to have disappeared from there). i have gone into devices manager and have found the touchpad option. it is coming up with a code 45 but all drivers are fully up to date. and recommendations?
