Portugal's Parliament has postponed major citizenship law reforms until September 2025, keeping current, more flexible rules in place for now. If you're eligible under today's requirements, this unexpected delay creates a crucial window to apply before potentially stricter rules take effect.

This means that until then, people who apply now won't have to wait 10 years for citizenship.
