Should I apply?

So I’m a security guard on nights, I just got approved to move to the day shift. As days are better for me. I start next week. But my field manager recommended I try applying for an HR position that they have that’s available. Now see I would but my friends and family say it could be risky because the company might think I’m not committed to the job and will just keep switching positions. That’s not true. I just wanna be higher up in the office. I want the new opportunity that the HR job can give me. I haven’t been in security long. Only about 4 months and I’m just about to switch to days. Is it risky or should I go for it?
