The portal is the worst thing that’s ever happened to this game
I hate to be dramatic, but the implementation of the portal is the most confusing thing bungie has ever done, and that’s saying something.
I’m aware there’s plenty of posts talking about this, but as someone with diagnosed OCD who’s also worked as a graphic designer, this may have genuinely ruined this game for me, it’s so poorly designed it’s driving me crazy.
It’s somehow made this game 5x as difficult to navigate. What was wrong with the directory?
Why is Kepler the only planet in the portal while all the other patrol destinations are still in the directory? That’s just needlessly convoluted.
And don’t even get me started on the organization of the tabs, fireteam? What does that even mean? Why would you cram all fireteam based activities into one tab with no further organization? And why are the icons so big? If they made the icons smaller you wouldn’t need 3 pages.
And the worst part is they already figured this out, they managed to fit strikes, battlegrounds, and onslaught into one tab under vanguard in the directory. They just ruined it.
And if you say they were running out of space… they just cleared everything out… there’s plenty of space in the directory now.
And wtf is the seasonal hub? If it’s an attempt to consolidate the seasonal content into one area, I commend that. But why do we still have a season pass tab?
And this goes for basically everything, it feels like it was an attempt at consolidation, but they just scattered everything around and ended up making way more tabs then they would have if they had just put it in the directory in the first place.
It astounds me that this organization method was greenlit, this is atrocious.
