LF recs: Pretty, rich FMC makes MMC fall in love with her as revenge—and leaves him heartbroken

I really love the idea of FMC wanting revenge on the MMC. She sets out to make him fall in love with her, and then leaves him heartbroken. Maybe one day he wakes up smiling ready to go see her again, only to find out she’s actually engaged to someone else.

Something like {Beguiling the Beauty by Sherry Thomas}, but if there’s something even angstier that would be better. For context: She’s a beautiful and rich woman who’s been widowed twice, and he’s been in love with her from afar for years. They don’t know each other personally. FMC’s evil ex-husband talked sht about her to the MMC, so years later MMC doesn’t name her outright but sht talks her to an entire audience at a Harvard lecture.

FMC is in the audience, unbeknownst to MMC, and pissed off at all the lies alluding to her. Ofc this doesn’t help her reputation. As revenge, she disguises herself and makes MMC fall for her (it helps that they are both into dinosaurs / archaeology), then ditches him, leaving him heartbroken.

Request: I do NOT want FMCs to not be evil—just good people who have been treated badly in the past, or who are acting out as some sort of self-defense / rightful vengeance.

MMCs—please I don’t want them evil either, they just did something bad / made a few mistakes. I also don’t want any lame and aimless MMCs, he needs to have money and a job etc — not a failure of a person

Bonus: If there is another guy who FMC is dangerously close to marrying. I want the MMC to despair and be heartbroken and even cry…
