Do I need a cofounder?

Hey guys! This is going to be specific to my situation. I am in an indecisive stage whether I should bring a guy into my team as a cofounder or as part of the core team. I will have to give him equity because I do not have the fund to pay him as his rate is high.

So far, I have been bootstrapping my own start up by myself. The guy I am bringing him is the first guy I talked to. My space is very niche in finance and he does not know that much about it. However, I need his skills. The thing is I can hire someone instead and know exactly and have experience in my niche and plus I do not have to give equity.

My product is at a point where it’s already MVP and ready to launch.

To conclude, part of me wants him because of his potential and skill even though I have never seen his skill but I just based from what he said and his skill seems valuable.

Can you guys give me advice about my situation whether I should bring him in or not?
