Wrongfully terminated nurse - seeking labor lawyer.
Location: Los Angeles, CA
I’m a nurse in California who was wrongfully terminated earlier this year. I’ve worked at this hospital for years without any issues until new management started. This manager targeted me after I became more vocal in the union. I attended rallies, spoke up at meetings, submitted ADOs, and pushed back on unsafe staffing and contract violations. After that, everything changed. My manager built up discipline against me, but it was based on retaliation, contract violations, and manipulation. He skipped required steps, altered documents, and ignored my rights.
I’ve gone through the full grievance process and filed a PERB charge, but the hospital still got away with so much. There was clear retaliation, document tampering, denial of representation, and refusal to accommodate my mental health when I asked for help. Despite all that, my union hasn’t really fought for me. I’ve done everything alone — researched, drafted arguments, gathered evidence — all while dealing with depression and anxiety from how badly this has affected my life and career.
Now I’m being pressured to sign a settlement that doesn’t feel right, and I’m struggling to find a labor lawyer who handles public sector or union-related cases. I’ve already put in hundreds of hours trying to stand up for myself, but I’m exhausted and scared to keep going without help.
If anyone has gone through something similar or can recommend an attorney, please reach out. I’m just a nurse trying to fight back against a system that feels completely stacked against me.
Letting this go would mean accepting that hospitals can abuse power and silence nurses and I can’t accept that. LO Thank you for taking the time to read this.
