Does overtime apply to switched shifts?

I work for the national parks and I’ve accepted people needing to switch shifts with me my two days off this last weekend and a day off this coming weekend. Meaning I’ll have worked 13 eight hour shifts in a row. I’m aware that after 40 hours of work in a week you’re entitled to overtime, but I feel like it doesn’t apply when there are shifts switched. Am I wrong in thinking this?
