looking for another car

I'm 18 and my car that was a hand-me-down from my brother when i was 16 is in pretty bad shape now. So, im starting to look for a 'newer' car with my parents. We're looking on FB marketplace and found a 2011 subaru forester. its getting sold for 4.5k and it is pretty nice and 116k miles. only thing is that its a salvage title. im not the best when it comes to cars and my parents said that its worth a shot to test drive but my older brother said salvage is not a good idea because of insurance issues. should i avoid looking into this car? im desperate for one atm because im starting uni in a few weeks, and all the cars listed are at ridiculous prices for some pos. anything advice helps
