How long before DS enshittifies?

Something I love about DS is the lack of bullshit you see on just about every platform: no ads, no irrelevant fluff jammed between the actual content, no algorithmic recommendations, no annoying popups and overlays (actually, I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve clicked “Not Now” after pausing a video, so maybe not annoying overlays), no badges and leaderboards, a relatively nice and respectful comments section.

It kinda reminds me of the positive vibes of the pre-2015 internet and it’s been a breath of fresh air. I enjoy how responsive the DS team is to technical issues and how they show up in the comments every now and then because they’re just normal people, but with how AI garbage keeps slipping in, I can’t help fearing that the platform will inevitably become garbage just like every other good thing on the internet.

For now, I absolutely love DS and look forward to using it every day, but we’ve all been down this road before with other platforms, and I can’t help feeling like I need to speedrun 1500 hours so I can “graduate” before it happens.
